Jefferson County Recovery Organizations to Expand Vital Services

Madison, IN – The Recovery Café of Madison, Ruth Haven, and Jefferson House are set to make significant strides in their missions to support long-term addiction recovery in Jefferson County. With an additional $200,000 in unrestricted funding, these organizations are poised to enhance their crucial work in helping individuals maintain sobriety and rebuild their lives.

In 2024, Bethany Legacy Foundation’s goal was to use its resources strategically to fund work and organizations focused on improving mental health for Jefferson County’s youth, adults, and seniors. The Mental Health Matters movement was started to help destigmatize seeking mental health help and curb the scourge of addiction in Jefferson County. Bethany Legacy knows many organizations are striving to make a difference and is proud to partner with these organizations.

Unrestricted funding provides organizations the flexibility to use the grant to address needs as determined by the organization itself. Veronica Watson, Bethany Legacy Foundation’s Program Manager commented on the importance of these three life-changing organizations by stating that, “Breaking the cycle of addiction and maintaining sobriety on a daily basis are some of the hardest decisions someone with substance use disorder (SUD) can make. With our focus on mental health this year, we are moved to be able to support these three organizations, as they provide vital space and resources for long-term addiction recovery.”

The Recovery Café of Madison, a key resource for sober fellowship and community engagement, supports individuals in recovery through peer coaching, financial education, and a financial assistance program. This funding will support the resources available for members and further strengthen the café’s supportive environment. Learn more about Recovery Café at recoverycafemadison.org.

This funding will also allow Ruth Haven to continue providing a safe and supportive space for their residents. Ruth Haven is a residential program for women in recovery from alcohol and/or substance abuse that houses women as they transition back into society. “Our focus is always on the women in our program and this grant will allow us to maintain a high-quality ‘home’ environment for our residents for years to come,” said Brandi Hearne, Program Director of Ruth Haven. Jefferson House is a residential program for men in recovery from substance abuse. This funding will allow them to further their mission and continue to serve their male residents. They believe a well-built house the residents can call “home” provides stability in their recovery journey. Learn more about Jefferson House at jeffhousemadison.org.
